For an individual unfamiliar with the fire service, the process of becoming a volunteer can be confusing and possibly cumbersome. Our Membership Task Force will be your guide during the process of becoming a member of our team.
Prospect Guide
Thoroughly read and understand the contents of the WMVFC Prospect Guide.
Online Application
Complete an online application.
Interview
These interviews are designed to obtain additional information regarding your candidacy as a member and to answer any questions you may have. A photo ID must be presented at time of interview.
Drug Screen and Background Check
You will be sent for an off site drug screening. Data collected from you will be used to conduct an independent background investigation by the Volunteer Review Board. This includes criminal background check.
Confirmation
Decision to accept or deny new applicant as a candidate for membership. If accepted, candidate will immediately be scheduled for New Member Mandatory Training.
Requirements within first 90 days
- New Member Orientation
- CPR
- Bloodborne Pathogens
- Hazmat Core Competencies
- Observer training
- Physical (not required for administrative only personnel)
- Register for a class
Probationary Membership
After successful completion of the New Member Mandatory Training criteria, Candidates will then become a Probationary Member for a period of no-less-than six months
